I still own my copy of the original Fighting Fantasy RPG and about eight Fighting Fantasy solo adventure books (including the original Warlock of Firetop Mountain adventure). However, I missed picking up the 'Advanced' version decades ago. It's great that these books will be made available again!
The announcement can be found here (but, frustratingly, not much additional information).
(Yes, this is yet another amazingly lazy post...)
Titan was a favourite of mine, I loved the art and maps.
ReplyDeleteYup, I still have my Titan book and the "Dungeoneer" Fighting Fantasy RPG. Nostalgia lives.
ReplyDeleteYou have become shockingly lazy, B. Work on that. :)
ReplyDeleteI was fortunate to pick up the big A4 versions of Out of the Pit and Titan at the bring and buy of my local con Furnace (Oct 11th Sheffield). They are acting as invaluable inspiration for my Albion Adventures releases (Labyrinth Lord modules/setting).
ReplyDeleteNot sure about Adv Fighting Fantasy, I always liked the simple Fighting Fantasy RPG book by Steve Jackson himself. I would say the first of the two scenarios, The Well, has inspired me countlessly over the years. It was how I introduced my brother to roleplaying games, one afternoon when we were bored.

Yeah, that's the book that I've owned since 1984, Newtus. Like you, I found 'The Well' pretty inspiring. I remember running it (with AD&D) around 1985.

ReplyDeleteOne of the things I hope to work on in 2011! (I'll need to sleep for 50 hours beforehand.)

ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about the 'Titan' setting. I hope to pick up the reissue and read it for myself in 2011.
its worth picking up the A4 versions if you can get them via ebay, half the appeal is the illustrations ;)
ReplyDeleteFighting Fantasy -- via "The Well" -- was also my introduction to rpgs. I should dig it out for a return trip one of these days.
ReplyDelete(Verification word: "Flatuoso". In some places, even the music of the bowels is considered high art.)

ReplyDeleteI've found the books much much cheaper through soemthing like abebooks. Indeed, I got mine from the UK for less than most ebayers charge for shipping.
