I'm thrilled that I now have a framed print of the cover illustration by Erol Otus of the very first Dragon magazine that I ever owned (issue # 55) hanging on my wall:
The print is number 99 (out of 200) and signed Otus.
The original magazine cover:
The corner of my study:
A classic, all right. Think if I had my choice of just one of his pieces to get a similar treatment it would be the center spread montage from Revolt on Antares. Black & white, but a real feast for the eyes with a ton of detail.
ReplyDeleteThen again, my tastes are kind of peculiar.
I never owned Revolt on Antares but I managed to find that picture online. It is indeed quite cool!
DeleteThat's literally in my top 5 favorite Dragon Magazine covers of all time! So awesome...
ReplyDeleteDid you buy it with a frame or did you have it custom framed after receiving the print?
Only the print was for sale, so I had to get it framed afterwards. The frame job cost me more than the print!
DeleteYes, I was anticipating that... framing is super expensive, like shipping outside the USA.
DeleteJust ordered mine!
DeleteWhere can one buy a print of that? It is beyond cool.
ReplyDeleteHere (looks like there are still some available!):
